Based on E. T. A. Hoffmann’s story, The Nutcracker is renowned as one of the great classical ballets. With iconic music by Tchaikovsky, it’s a tale that explores the universal themes of love, power and evil.
This choreographic version, created for the Bolshoi by Yuri Grigorovich, is full of romanticism and philosophical reflections on ideal love. Captured on film at a live performance in Moscow, The Nutcracker will screen at cinemas around Australia from 7 February.
